Other than Maverick Man, you would be best off making your own, like Rick Book. You could buy the cowl scoop and mount it on your steel hood...

Most of the hood companies that have Maverick flat hoods also have Maverick cowl hoods. If not, most glass companies advertise they will bond any of their scoops to the hood you purchase for a fee.

US Body has the best rep from my experience. I want one, but haven't done it yet.
Unlimited Products has been getting a terrible rep lately.
Any of them will most likely require plenty of work to get 'right' when you go to install them.

Body folks I know don't recommend a glass or ABS scoop on a steel hood. The materials expand differently with engine heat and the bond does not last. They flex differently too. All this causes cracks and flakes in your paint.

IMO, the best way to get a glass scoop on a steel hood is to use a bolt on type.
That is what I have on the 75 and there has never been any issue with it.

checks in the mail just don't cash it... it will :bouncy:

are you trying to get in on the $10 bucks? :D :D

yeah but i'm sure it was a stock hood.. my US body cowl i bought was crap. i didn't listen to someone that told me. i was reading every where they had the best stuff. NOT!!!!!

so don't make me tell you i told you so when you buy it. i have already had 3 people tell me "i should have bought yours". now they are in the hole and it cost them more then just to by my hood in the first place ;)

I keep saying it round about... now I'll say it straight...

Put up or shut up! ;)

If you think everyone else's stuff is crap, carry a selection of your hoods.

On Body Source, I wasn't saying that their stuff is great. I know better, new mass production fiberglass will need plenty of work before it is ready for the car.
I was just giving a choice that may be the lesser of evils out there.
When I was big into F-bodies, and hung around on a few boards with several times the members as this one, US Body Source was the company that got thumbs up from that community.
There is probably some prejudice on the part of the manufacturer. At the time the Camaro/TA was still in production, folks paid lots of dough for them recently, and the market was much larger than the Maverick hood market.
Therefore folks would not put up with crap, there were a dozen competitors or better with a variety of Camaro hoods, etc...
Everyone and his brother was buying the hood pictured, you probably have seen several yourself, they are US Body. When someone on the boards bought one, they would rave.
Haven't had one myself, just as I haven't got one of your Grabber hoods yet.

So if I arrange to get you a Grabber hood, you will make one in CF for me?

If so, it is something I might consider. Say if I found a Grabber hood for sale on the left coast and it would be cheaper to ship to you than me. That would be a thought.

Can you make your pattern from an aftermarket FG hood?

it could be an option. the hood needs to be seperated from the frame so the OE one would be really not much use after i tear it up. well i guess you could still use it. even then i gotta have a body shop fix any dents and what not on it first b4 its molded.

knocking off a FG hood is not the best thing nothing beats the orginal. thus why my spoiler fit better then anyone elses aftermarket ones.

when you start from scratch it not the best fit its much eaiser when you mold something the fits in the first place.

What we need is a hood that is in fair shape but wouldn't make everybody cringe at tearing it apart. I will search for one. I emplore others to do so as well. The Cowl hood fit Great I got form Maverick man. A Great fitting grabber hood would be sweet. (y)

Derrick, I have a Grabber hood skin (not attached to a frame) in my basement. It is in great shape except for two holes where somebody had hood pins come through. This skin can made to be a good original for molding. PM me if interested.
