My dash pad is badly cracked in a few places.

What have you done for this?
Are there any after market dash pads available?
    Are they good?

There is a company called just dashes that applies new foam and vinyl to dashboards. They use the metal core, put new foam under and vacuum form new vinyl in the correct color and texture, totaly rebuilding the dash. I believe their site is called Just dashes. I will find it and post it.

I used Just dashes to redo a blue one for me. It was expensive at $450. It was just shipped back last week so I havent gotten it back yet. A cheaper solution is the dash covers sold by JC Whitney which are only about $80.

Thanks guys for the leads!! I will check them out.

P.S. Mavaholic, when you get your dash pad back from Just Dashes let us know how happy you are with it. I sure there will be others out here who would like to know what kind of job they did for you.

    Thanks again!

David; I put a dash cover from J.C. Whitney on my car, painted it charcoal gray, and it looks great. Just follow the directions from the manufacturer, and it will turn out ok. A hell of a lot cheaper than rebuilding, but not as good. Good luck!!

I've seen the JC Whitney covers, they look very very nice. I did not even realize it was a cover.

    Question

Do they cover well enough that if you changed the interior color that you wouldn't see any of the original? I am going to change the colors of my comet and need to change everything inside to match the color of my paint scheme.

I have one of the dash covers also and am pleased with it, although I haven't installed it yet. Mine came in a car deal I bought. I have also bought two perfect used dash pads through eBay for about $70 each over the last couple of years. If you keep your eyes open you'll find them quite often and for usually less than $100. I prefer a good used one anytime to the cover.
    Good luck,
    Ray Parrish
