As many of you know, the '74 and on Mavericks had a lower dash/glove box that was made of some kind of plastic. They are notorious for cracking, many times in the narrow spot above the glove box. Has anyone had success in repairing them? I was thinking of removing it and trying to glue a piece of something behind the dash area to reinforce it. Anyone have some tricks to share?

I have done that exact thing. I repaired one once by using "plastic weld" (the adhesive product) and other thick plastic behind it as reinforcement. It worked well.

I wonder if JB weld would adhere to that material?

I would just use some fiberglass resin on the back, a cut to fit piece of fiberglass cloth and some more resin over that. That should make it hold very good and if you felt the need you could double layer it. It might not be a bad idea to do the whole back side of the tray like that so no other cracks will form too. You can get the little kits at Wal-Mart to do it with, and it will make it much easier. (y)
