question for my intellengent friends here. the 400 is sitting too tall so we're making a custom cowl hood. we're using swamp cooler panels. question is would it be better to hav the louvers facing forward or to the rear?
thats a tough question. you need to make two hoods. then take the maverick to the wind tunnel to see wich one works best. make sure to take video of the testing. just kidding. i would need to see what your talking about. the air flow coming off the front of the car goes pretty high above the hood surface. i suspect that you want them towards the rear.
I have never seen a cowl induction hood with louvers before. I always thought that was so the air would flow cleaner over the hood. The cowl lets the air under the hood out.
why not just mount one of these to the hood they have them on E-bay for about 80 bucks Please wait Image not available
i belive the origanal concept of the cowel hood was on the 60s camaro. they would seal the carb to the cowel and a high pressure would form at the base of the windshield. heres a link that explains it. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061113174104AAHZslf
