Anybody done anything cool with the dash cluster? I want to get rid of all the lights and guages, and put in aftermarket with backlighting and tach, speedo, oil, water, volts all in the cluster.

Show me pics of what has been done...

I have been thinking of some "turned" aluminum, or maybe do like the most current Car Craft where you just swap new guages into the old holes.

Also, any ideas on electric speedos? How do they work, and are they worth the money?

I want to get rid of the speedo cable if I can. It is too close to the headers and the speedo is off anyway, due to the 3.80 gears (i bought a different speedo gear and got it close, but not perfect).

I like that digital...where do I get one? Looks like a direct fit, or did someone have to build it piece by piece?

    Who's car is that?

I seen a pretty cool gauge set up tonight on a cv3vy where a 3 pod unitwas right between the roof and morrior. something down the door pillar against the windshield might be nice too. Ive always been a fan of the gauges that sat out on the hood. I'd like to get my hands on a re-po 68-69 GTO hood tach.

    blown

is that a cable or electric speedo?

    Newto,

I have seen some of those pillar guages, I like them, but not for my Maverick. A little too rice, I guess...too "modern"? maybe?

I don't know, but for some reason, in my opinion, I just don't think they fit my setup. On the hood is cool, but I think you need a cowl to make it work, again, just my opinion.

I kinda like blown's setup...just the basics, no lights and flashy things, just speedo and tach. I do want to keep the temp, volts, and oil somewhere. They are just too important to lose.

The one's I see (in this thread) are cool.

For a street car, I personally like Frank's the bestest (he even let me look at them with the door open - standing 4 feet away - being friends and all).

unless the turned metal somehow goes with the rest of the theme of the car, I think it would make it look a little too 70's trans am:huh:

but, it might work too?.....just another useless opinion.:)

Yeah, I love the look but I agree that I would have to really work it in by adding stuff elsewhere to make it not look out of place.

By the way Rad, did you notice the big hole in your garage? :p You could lose a car in that thing!
