how much did you guys end up paying to get yours done, i don't want going over the rear axle, just dumping at the mufflers or going out on the side, one shop quoted me 490 bucks for h pipe and some cheapo mufflers so far.

Sounds a little high for around Atlanta. Could be the norm in the Motor City.

$160 from manifolds all the way back. That was 1992. Then last summer, I spent $200 just for new mufflers. Nowadays, a full dual set-up runs around $400...

I have 3 inch pipes (hope this doesnt start the normal hijack on size) and Flowmaster Super 40 mufflers with a H pipe that dump before the rear axle. Have roughly 250 dollars in parts and paid 100 dollars for pipe bending and installation.

Just found this page, it wont sound the same on different cars but it gives you the idea of how each muffler sounds.

Don't know how they can demonstrate that. Exhaust sound is affected by so many things besides the mufflers, pipe size, cam, heads, compression ratio, etc.

I would say that $400 w/mufflers is a pretty good deal, if it is custom made with mandrel j-bends and tig welded. I could'nt see myself doing it for any less. If you just want a muffler shop to press bend you some pipe and throw it up there its about $250 to $300 w/ mufflers around here.
