I need to get a tool that will cut the big bumpers in half but with a nice enough line to weld them back up. Basicly section the bumpers. I have a cutoff tool & a sawzall but don't know if one of these will get the job done. I had a hard time cutting a bolt off with the sawzall. It took an hour to get one bolt cut. I only have a 33 gal tank compressor so it may not be enough for big cutoff tools. Anything comes to mind for this?

plasma cutter... but if you get a new blade for the sawzall and get the RIGHT kind of blade. Either one, Sawzall or an electric angle grinder with a cutoff disc should cut through pretty quick and fairly neat.

If you can, take it to a machine shop and have them cut it in half with a band saw. If you find a good shop, they'll charge $20-30 and you'll have it done in 10 mins.

I will check on both ways but I dont have access to a plasma cutter. Maybe a machine shop would be better.

I gotta ask. Why do you need to cut your bumper in half and re-weld it together?

You're up to sumpthing. Fess up. ;)

I used a plasma when I did mine(only because I had access to one then)

I've also used cut off wheels, and this last one I'm doing now, I used a chop saw, worked fine, clean straight edge.
band saw would do fine too.

what of those do you have access too?

I wouldnt use a sawzall as mentioned.

If you have a 4" grinder, you can go to any Home Depot and get cut off wheels for them. They are great for cutting metal. Work a lot better than air powered cut off wheels. If you dont have one, go to home Depot and buy one. They are inexpensive and a "must have" tool in my opinion.

Same goes for the cutoff wheels they make for skilsaws. That's what I use when I have a large piece to cut. Much faster than the small 4 inch jobs....

Rick: Been looking at the bumpers, did some measuring & think I have came up with a nip & tuck job.
RadMav: The cutoff tool & sawzall is all I have at this point but I my be able to buy an electric grinder.
Jim: you great buddy you, how the hell are you? Once I get the 5 spd in & bumpers worked out, will swing your way to take a peep at it.
I will check the price on the grinder & skilsaw piece. My neighbor has a skilsaw.
