I have installed the front disk brakes from a '74 Maverick on my '65 Ranchero and would like to hook up the brake warning light on the dash which is controlled by the switch on the proportioning valve. I have looked at the wiring diagrams (http://www.maverickcomet.com/Wiring/Maverick.asp) and have not figured out how it works. The diagram shows a wire(hot?) from the ignition switch through the switch on the valve and then to the pc board. The switch on the valve apparently goes to ground when there is a malfunction in the system which seems strange if there is a hot wire going to it???? Of course I don't have a/the pc board. I guess I could simply wire a light with the ground side going to the switch on the proportioning valve. Any direction appreciated. b\o

One side of the warning light gets 12v from a switched source, preferably when the key is in the run position. That is your "hot" side. The other side of the light will be the ground, which comes from the switch in the proportioning valve.
