I am re-posting this information here, because the original thread was in the New Members sub-forum located here: http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=89880 ------------ I found out more info about these Deluxe Style Arm Rest Pads, that I wanted to share. * First of all...thank you everyone that posted in the original thread, ALL of this info was helpful when I searched for these Deluxe Pads. NO ONE posted erroneous info on here, but some of the Vendors are not being as specific as they could be, about the repopped parts being "just like" the Factory/OEM ones. While it's true that a few Vendors advertise these Pads with "Metal" inserts... ...When I bought a pair advertised with Metal inside...I found out that they actually DO NOT have a Metal Plate running across the length of the inside of the foam pad, like the Factory ones do... They only have Metal around the two Standoffs, that the 2 bolts slide into. The Repopped ones are Very Nice Reproduction Pads, and the grain and Vinyl look extremely close to the factory ones, but I agree that they will not hold up as well, over time, as an original one with the internal metal plates will, when you are pushing and pulling on a heavy door. The Factory ones do NOT flex, but the re-popped ones do. I ended up buying a Factory set on Ebay, that was in great condition, that I plan to use instead. I have found 3 originating reproduction styles out there: 1. One type is Manufactured by Dashes Direct, and are sold by Scott Drake, and many other companies. These are the style I originally bought. The Dashes Direct Pad ONLY HAS METAL AROUND THE BOLT CHANNEL HOLES, BUT NO STEEL ALONG LENGTH OF INNER PADS, LIKE THE FACTORY ONES DO. The Scott Drake Pads (D1ZZ-6524100-BK, D1ZZ-6524101-BK), are made by Dashes Direct, and "Dashes Direct" is stamped into backside of Pad. 2. Several Vinyl/Foam reproduced ones are extremely similar to the first set of Re-popped ones I bought, with the following: - (No complete Metal Plate Insert) - Look extremely similar to the Dashes Direct/Scott Drake ones. - Claim to originate from a few places over-seas, like in China, Taiwan, and India. Golden Star, LLC, Golden Legion in Taiwan, and an India Manufacturing Company. 3. The Virginia Classic Mustangs ones are completely different, and are not vinyl covered foam. They are a solid urethane arm rest pad. http://www.virginiaclassicmustang.com/71-73-RH-STANDARD-ARM-REST-PAD-INDICATE-COLOR-P4850.aspx Other places that "make" the vinyl/foam repopped ones, but are the same as described above: Scott Drake/Dashes Direct Pad: http://www.drakeautomotivegroup.com/Store/Product/D1ZZ-6524100-BK.aspx?wid=141 RPC ones are from GoodMark: http://www.restorationperformance.com/servlet/the-110462/71-dsh-73-Mustang-Standard-Interior,/Detail GoodMark Industries Pads, are from Taiwan. http://www.goodmarkindustries.com/p...h-black-wstandard-interior-3023-924-711l.aspx All Classic Parts, Inc ones are from India. http://www.acpdealer.com/ http://www.goldenstarauto.com/Productdetails.aspx?id=AB20-71RBK&c=9&sc=232&pi=2 California Mustang ones are from Dashes Direct: http://www.cal-mustang.com/1971-73-Mustang-Standard-Arm-Rest-Pads-Black-pair-P11809C644.aspx The Mustang Shop sells the GoodMark ones from Taiwan. When I bought my Factory ebay set, here are the Factory Part numbers I used for my search: D10B-6524100 (PASSENGER/RIGHT SIDE) MUSTANG/TORINO equivilent P/N D10B-6524101 (DRIVER/LEFT SIDE) MUSTANG/TORINO equivilent P/N I hope this helps.
Links repaired. Thanks Dave. ...must have happened when I copied and pasted the contents of the post from the original thread. Thank goodness the links were still correct there, or I would have had to looked them all up again!
being it was moved from the...new members forum... shouldn't it be in the...Parts Interchange...forum? (71-73 Mustang/Torinos)
Good point Frank. I wasn't for sure where to posted it...but I submitted it for Tech Article approval nevertheless. *Update: I want to thank the Moderators for making my long post above, a Tech Article (Interior), after I submitted it. I also added pics/more info, and also added information on a Vendor that offers a Re-Chroming Service, specifically for the Deluxe Plastic Arm Rest Bases: http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=96546
