they are good carbs. holey responded to them by makeing the hp series of carbs. the most signifant thing about the deamons and the hps are the adjustable air bleeds.
Been running one on my Sprint ever since I redid it back in 2002. Absolutely flawless performance right out of the box. Had to install smaller air bleeds to fatten up the idle circuit but that took all of 30 seconds. Anyone who has ridden in my car, and there are a handful on this board, can attest to how well it runs.
I notice that it says not for a cam with a bigger duration than 220 to 240. I was going to use a b303 cam, but it is like 285 on the duration. So does this mean i cant use it???????????
The duration 220-240 is at .050". The B303 has a 224 @.050" duration. The carb will be fine. I have a demon carb too and love it.
I have had a Road Demon and a Road Demon Jr and loved them both. Some people have trouble with trash being in the new ones or at least they did a couple of years ago. I think they are a very well built carb. Sure do look nice as well clint
Had a road demon .Loved the performance, but gas mileage was terrible. I leaned it out with a jet change helped a little .
Race Demon here with a "fairly" lumpy cam. Worked great right out of the box I just increased the squirter size a few to lose the off-idle stumble.
I borrowed one and put it on a stock bottom 302 with GT40p heads and headers, and it was always too rich (out of the box). At that time I did not know how to tune them, so I made a couple of adjustments, and it never really wanted to take off right, just too rich. Seems like everyone else on here is saying the same thing. Lean it out and it will be a good carb.
Had a ROad demon on my first mav, and getting ready to order a speed demon for my 331. i love them. it performed good out of the box, but it was a little rich. one small problem i did have though......:16suspect right after i built my new motor and had the road demon on it, i left the shop where i worked ticked off about something stupid. I was about to "tokyo drift" my mav around this corner, so i smashed the gas. I went to feather it to slide this beast only to realize the gas pedal wasnt releasing!!!!! o SHI* I killed it, and turned the key back on... (all in a split second) ... my motor fired up at W.O.T. and she slammed into a DEEP ditch. i opened the hood and found that the pin for the electric choke was jammed behind my throttle linkage. but that was really my fault bc i didnt have a proper stop for it. i ended up ripping out the entire choke mechanism anyway including the "butterfly" i guess thats what u'd call it. other than that though, i never had a problem. it always started promptly, even after sitting too!!
One thing I did NOT like about it, not that it is a bad thing, but it is harder to press down on the accellerator with the demons. I was using an edelbrock 600 and swapped out for the demon for a couple weeks with a buddy, and he complained of the same thing. The edelbrock opened and snapped back closed faster and with less resistance. Not sure if it was a fluke, and I don't feel it on my current holley double pumper.
I tried one on my Fiat Spider that has a 302 with Edelbrock heads, Performer RPM intake, unknown cam and Hooker headers. I never could get it to idle right (always idled to high), and it had a bad stumble just off idle. But my god, did it ever have some top end. Once you got past that stumble, it took off like a bad outta hell...
