Me and Gene were talking in another thread and I thought this might an interesting way to test your knowledge and for me to learn something. I will use a 72 Comet/Maverick as an example since that's what my dad owned. What are the differences (exterior) between the two vehicles? Also what are the differences (interior) between the two vehicles? Please refer to exterior or interior when replying.

One is a Mercury (Comet) and the other is a Ford (Maverick) :tiphat:

the hood, grill, front bumper, tail panel and tail lights on the outside

Here are two photos. The left is a Comet GT and the right is a Maverick Grabber. Other then the tail lights and grilles, you can see the external differences.

Comet GT also has a hood scoop. Side stripes high on fenders. Maverick Grabber graphics are lower on the body and two small scoops as well as a rear spoiler.

Comet is listed in the dictionary before Maverick.

You can put a Comet GT scoop on a Maverick hood, but you can't put Grabber scoops on a Comet hood. At least not as easily as putting on the Comet scoop.

    Mav/Comet differences

    How about interiors, guys?

My first one, a 71 Comet, had a blue Comfortweave bench seat interior. I do have to say that interior was pretty nice for driving around in FL summer weather with no AC. :thumbs2:

My current one, a 72 Comet, had the basic bench seat interior in a color close to what Mustang guys call Ivy Gold, but that wasn't an exact match.

Mavs came with the nicer interior with the Luxury Decor Option, right? What about Comets? Was there an upgrade for them as well?

Were there interior differnces for Grabbers vs Comet GTs?

Mavericks and Comets were identical with identical options (except Grabber and GT package). Both could be had with LDO interior. Only the front and rear ends were styled different.

Comet had Different hood, grill, tailight panel and taillights ... those are the only differences.

Did the Comet "GT" models ever get the rear spoiler?
