    They are factory original ... they are pretty hard to find though ... were in cars that had 4-speaker stereo's ....

    My 73 Comet had the kickpanels with the grill insert for speakers...

    Dosen't look to hard to do if you spend a few hours with a dremel and be extreamly careful.

    The link didnt work but be very careful about doing this, make sure the speaker will fit behind your kickpanels. Ive been told some cars won't let you put speakers there

    I think it may have something to do with the year. My '74 has the round openings behind the kick panels. My dad said he dosen't remember his '71 Comet haveing them.

    good point (y) . i have never seen a speaker opening like that :huh: . all my openings had to be ...massaged... '69.5, '71, two '73s,'76,'77...frank...:bouncy:

    I think 4-speaker Stereos became in option in 73 so all cars 73 and up should have it cutout.

    My '73 has them and my '72 doesn't. Never really gave it any thought till I read this post. I learned something new that I already knew.
