Is anyone else getting redirected from the Maverick Forum to some "DNS something or other" website?

I have been sent there several times today, and Anna says she has been sent there from other sites as well.

Is it a bug on our computers, or is the forum down for short times throughout the day?

Sounds like a connection problem on your end. Do you have a up to date virus scanner? Hopefully its not related to malware...

I would have thought that also, but the wife has gotten the same thing on her computer on another website.

I have up to date anti virus and firewall, but I guess it won't hurt to run a scan for everything.

It happens only on the mav forum for me, and some other site for her.

if it is a dns error you may need to clear out the dns records on your computers. when it happens to her is it a site she always has gone to? here is how you do that, open the command prompt then type ipconfig /flushdns then enter. this should be cleared out automatically but there are a couple settings which will prevent this. if that doesnt fix it your DNS provider at the isp may be bjorked LOL

Let me rephrase that. It isn't a DNS error, but it takes me to a a website called DNS "something or other". It is basically a search engine, like Google, but has a couple of suggestions related to the Mavericks, including the mmb.maverick.to, but when I click on that link, it takes be back to the search page.

Did a full scan on my computer and no bugs. And it hasn't sent me to the DNS page since yesterday.

Flush your DNS cache on both computers...

    Close all browser windows,

    Start->Run->"cmd" (enter)

    "ipconfig /flushdns" (enter)

And if that doesn't get it, could be the DNS cache on your router. Rebooting that should clear it. Last possibility if it's not malware, is your ISP or LAN's DNS server is poisoned. Try another known good DNS server IP address in your network settings.

Ok, did it again a couple hours ago, and it is sending me to a web page called "DNS Advantage" and the error is something like "mmb.maverick.to is not a valid address or is busy at the current time" then it gives 6 or 8 suggestions with links, including mmb.maverick.to as the first suggestion (which brings me back to the original page with the error) and a couple of other Maverick.to sites, and a wikipedia site about mavericks. Some of these work, but the one to here does not.

It says "Powered by Yahoo!" at the bottom, so it sounds more addy than virusy.

Yeah, something on your system is intercepting DNS requests and resolving the domain "mmb.maverick.to" to some other IP address instead of letting a DNS server handle the request and pass you to Stefan's IP. OR, you have a compromised DNS server downstream doing it.

Do "ipconfig /all" and tell me what yous DNS servers are. Like this:

    Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
    (C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

    C:\Documents and Settings\dpittman>ipconfig /all

The DNS servers are what I've highlighted in bold red. In my case, these are local LAN servers that I control, but usually on a home/small office system it will be an ISP's DNS servers. If they are, I can test them for you and tell you whether it's your problem or your ISP's.
