I have a 72 with an auto C4 is it case or pan fill? I think it is case fill but just want to be sure.
does the dip stick go into the tranny through the caes of the tranny or through the pan of the tranny? You have your answer. Or if you're still not sure, post a picture, you will get the answer then
If it's the stock tranny it's a case fill. I believe the pan filled ones were mostly used in light trucks and some vans.
I dunno about that, my tranny came out of a one owner 77 Granada, it was rebuilt once, and it's a pan fill. But it was behind a 351 W, so that might make a difference...
http://www.fordcobraengines.com/Tranny_suggestions.htm See item #2. Trucks, vans and big bodied cars. I knew i heard Trucks and Vans somewhere.
2. The large bellhousing/pan fed C4’s are normally found in truck, vans, big bodied cars (Galaxy, Torino etc.) and cars with larger engines like the FEs or Big Block 460s. Small bellhousing C4’s are in the small cars (Mustang, Granada, Pinto, Fairmont, etc.) with smaller engines like the 289, 302 and 351w but with most Ford parts there are always some exceptions to this rule I guess mine was one of those exceptions.....
