I am working on moving a floor shifter in my car . Has a column shifter now . Somewhere I saw a article showing a factory shifter with an adapter plate ? Do also need an adapter plate ? You just can't cut a hole for it on the tunnel ?

the "hump" is to sit the shifter level and to one side of the tunnel so the linkage can work properly.

I would use one for a manual trans. For my auto trans, I did not use the hump. I did however reinforce the shifter mounts underneath in the trans tunnel. I used a 71 - 73 Mustang shifter with a 68 Mustang V8 rod. The rod required slight bending, but nothing major.

You don't need it. It raises the shifter ever so slightly. There's an outline on top the trans tunnel for where to cut the hole.
