I searched, and didn't find anything, I'm not interested in a cap, but the real dash pad, are these repro'd? I've got a chance to buy an original, but I want to do all my homework first.
actually I just called them, as they're not far from where I live, but they had me leave a mssg, anyone know what they charge ballpark figure wise?
It used to list prices, I think it was 400 or so, I was just looking again, but I can't find the list. Even at 400, I think thats worth the money.
Don't buy an original, it WILL crack eventually, probably sooner than later unless your car never sits in the sun.
What exactly is the proper care to prevent a dash from cracking ... I recall one cracking recently when the temp dropped below zero. I suppose heated storage when not in use and a windshield sunscreen when parked outside would definitely prevent cracking.
Just Dashes does absolutely amazing work.... I was just down there last week, picking up some parts for my work. All of the guys down there are extremely nice and respectful. Any price in reasonable range will be well worth it, because they do crazy good work!
Jeremy I called just dashes when i was doing my a/c install thay told me it would 12 - 14 weeks an 475.00 for our dash pad for that kind of money i could send it to fmc56 ( fred ) and pay the freight both ways an have money left over . jay
thanks all for the opinions...while I'll likely go to just dashes eventually, a fellow board member here is hooking me up with a mint original pad, along with some kicks, sunvisors and armrests all in black, all WELL under what just dashes can do for me, so I'm gonna go that route, after the amount of money i'm spending on this fairly high budget resto, the car is just going to sit in the garage under car cover except for maybe 1-2 weekend days a month
"Proper care" is whatever works, and since my dash is 30+ years-old, so I'd say what I have been doing is working. The climate where I live gets below zero, as well as in the mid to high 90s in the summertime. My garage is not heated, and although I occasionally use a sun-shield when parked outside, I often do not. My car sat for years outside when I didn't have a garage, or when the garage I have was full of other stuff. The key is to keep the pad moisturized, and do not cover it with anything, as that only absorbs more heat (if it's in direct contact with the pad). I have used Pledge furniture polish on it for years, just once every 2 to 3 months, and the proof's in the pudding. One simple fact is that if the pad is dry, it's not gonna flex with temperature changes, and therefore it will crack. If it can flex, then there won't be a problem...
