Don, or anyone else for that matter :) ,

Do you use Crew Chief Pro software? I am getting ready to purchase a copy and was just wondering how you like it. I have heard nothing but good things about it, but would really like some "real world" observations.

    Thanks,

It is one of the best investments you can buy if you're bracket racing. Make sure you have a good air density meter so you can put accurate numbers into the program for each run.

Okay, how about explaining this for dummies. Do you have to have a laptop at the track?
Just a bracket racer, no throttle-stop, delay boxes, just flat-out bracket racing. Not sure what all you have to have to get your readings at the track. Wanting to know what system I have to get this to work at the track. Thanks.

You don't have to use it at the track. It helps though. If you keep your records at home then make sure you also keep a log book with you at the track with the same information as the computer. Personally, I'd buy a $500 laptop from Best Buy and take it with me to the races.

You'll need a weather station to keep track of air density readings. This information helps the computer predict ET's for the next rounds. There are several good units on the market. Here are some links to the different units at Jeg's:

maxx, i don't use it. i use a tag unit. i have heard nothing but good about . i know a few that use it and the company support is great. lots of guys on dragraceresults.com use it and the crew chief rep is on there all the time. from what i've heard if you have a problem he'll help you out by phone at the track. don higgins is the president of crew chief pro drag racing systems. his number is309-688-2990 and www.crewchiefpro.com :)

ive had it for 6 or 7 years. its excellent. yes, it is best to get an inexpensive laptop for at the track. ive used a $70 temp & humidity gauge i got from grainger, with an inexpensive barometer. its not important that your gauges are super accurate. as long as they change consistently & YOU ONLY USE YOUR GAUGES, you will be fine. just dont look at someone elses gauges & worry that your's say it is 4 deg hotter than their gauge.

but it is like any other computer. garbage in, garbage out. while you still log poor runs, dont put them in the same combination (like a sub-data section) that you want to use for your predictions. if your prediction combo has 4 good runs, along with 2 bad runs, the predictions will be off. you can still print a logbook page at the end of the day of all the runs.

has many useful features. give don a call.
