I had a blast at MIR last weekend went about 4 rounds everyday. (3 days) The air was GREAT and like most Ford's my car liked the below sea level air. The car ran it's personal best 10.12 1/4 mile (that what it's set up for) and a 6.38 1/8 mile. Every off season we try to get a little more out of what we have, but I don't like the idea of having to wear that full fire suit so I'm done. Here is my best time slip to date. I didn't have the best bulb but when I saw him red light I said to myself FREEBE Hope to see some of you guys next year somewhere. Terry Gates AKA Bossmav
you da man terry! i bet you were falling asleep waiting on your light cant wait to get mine going , so close , its driving me crazy ...its the little things right now...
Considering the Maverick Comet Club International's 14th Annual Roundup Nationals will be in Virginia next year....maybe we will see you there!!
Awesome times I cant wait till april, thats when i turn 18 and i can legally drag race, i'm hoping for a 16 or better.
Who says you have to be 18? Can't you get your parents/guardian to sign the waiver for you? You should only have to be 15 1/2 with a learner's permit and your mom/dad sitting next to you, or 16 with a license. Let's do it...Irwindale or Fontana will work.
Thanks guys! Craig, it's about time I joined the club. I'll be there! Eddie, have you checked your email? I have one of your center caps to your wheel. I look forward to 2007 and I hope we all can have a great year as we enjoy our cars. Put God first and everything else will fall in line. Terry
My dads friend told me you had to be at least 18 to race a car at fontana Anyways the mav will probally be finished by the time i'm 18
Glad to see the driver is ok, most outlaw 10.5's have a full cage including a funny car driver cage. In my opinion, after watching the Arkansas state championship street legal event, last week, these outlaw's are pushing the limit on 10.5's. Low 4's in the 1/8th @ 150/160mph, is getting close to a limit of scientific adhesion and airodynamics. They are a blast to watch though, most shooting the gas to there 30/40,000 dollar motor's. Lot's of neat noise and fire at night. On top of that, lot's of exploding engines in the process. No real wrecks, but some close call's and everyone went home safe and sound. On a sadder note, last week in Oklahoma, one of the fellows who started racing at our track, a couple years ago, advanced to NHRA Super Comp class. Traveled to some events all over this summer and finally won a Wally at Memphis during the midsouth nationals. Decided to move up to a faster and more prestigious class, has a very good income and ordered a Bickel Cobalt Pro stock machine. 600+ ci engine. Picked up the car in Missouri and tried a few runs up there, went to Oklahoma and ran a couple 188 mph runs. Last run, it began it's normal little dido's down track and it got away from him. Chutes did not deploy and it spun into a gaurd rail "opening for exit purposes" Hit dead center in the rear at speed and shoved everything up to the backside of the driver's seat. Two disc's damaged in back and now a cracked hip too. Was very lucky to come out that good, from what I understand. Said he is done with door car's and has sold all the stuff he had. Am sure he will be back someday, with another super comp dragster, if he heals ok. I will not use his name here without his permission, but those of us who know him are hoping for a full recovery and await him and his family to return for visit.
Good thing I know what Old Guy is referring to. I have the same two windows open... sorry to hear about the guy, but glad he made it out alive
terry, it will be good to see you again. maybe this time i'll get to see you run. i ran last week. 2nd round had an .ooo light and ran 7.801 on a 7.80. wish i could figure how to do that all the time. different running 1/8 rather than the 1/4.
