Long time looker, not one who post for the most part. Maverick was my 1st car, got it from my Grandfather when I was 14 who bought it brand new in 1976. Drove it daily, but started collecting parts at that time (1988). Completed the body work with NOS fenders, Quarters, added grabber hood. Over the next 10 years got parts from Brazil, like the tach, clock,200 K speedo, console. Did then drivetrain, complete engine rebuild, bore .40 over, added aluminum heads, headers, 9 inch rear, and redid the underneath. Shortly after, converted to a 4 speed toploader and over the last 5 years finished the inside by installing the parts from brazil and putting in the buckets. Had the speedo converted to MPH and added a piece in front of the tach with embedded LED's for the shift light. Spent the last few months cleaning and putting everything together added the electric fuel pump(that is what I used the switch in the console for), especially under the hood. So after 22 years, finally got my high school car that was my grandfathers car, done! Pics below http://s299.photobucket.com/albums/mm289/jjphotos_album/mav/
Welcome to the site. So much work and time went into this car and it shows. I have a few questions, 1. where did you get the tach its awesome how well it matches the gauges 2. how did you get a km speedo to work as mph. I really like your center console. So clean and simple yet so nice!
Thanks Thanks everyone, I drove it quite a bit the last few weeks and enjoyed it. The tach came off a maverick in Brazil, along with the console. I had a special gear made that goes inside the transmission that was made for the speedometer. There is a local place where I live that specializes in speedomoeters, cables, etc. and to my surprise he was able to get it dead on.
Some of them I got from someone here in the US, some in Brazil,. This was 10-15 years ago, I also got a lot of the old Brazilian magazines with the parts and shipping at the time was reasonable, less then 30 dollars. I know recently I tried getting some things and shipping was really high. Thanks again for the compliments.
