Well, my parts car is an LDO and the project car is not. I want to use the chrome on top of the doors on the new car. How do I get it off and install it on the other car? I have the door panels off of the project car already. Also I was looking at the car and wondering if you could shave the drip rails and if that would be detrimental to the car (Water in the doors, Etc).

I used a large, semi stiff putty knife to take my off. The main thing is, work sssssllllllooooowwwwllllllyyyyy [slowly]. Start at the rear top, inside the door, and start working the chrome up and over the edge. You may need a small screwdriver or knife to get it started, then go to the putty knife. Don't force it! Work it the entire length of the piece. It will twist very easy if you get too fast and too big a bite. Patience, patience, patience!

Yup,, good advice above,, cept I used a paintstick mostly. Drip rails can be removed and the area welded in, but when you open the door when the car is wet, all the water drips down into the car, how do I know this? I did it to a car back in the early 80's.

I used a bottle opener also which I wrapped in duck tape + a paint stick and worked very slowly. Came off great with no bends in it. Putting it back on next year might be fun though!!
