I'm having two issues with my '77 Maverick that I need help with.

First off, driver's side front door latch, its a four-door. The latch is noticibly loose, for example lifting up on the door from the outside. I have the Ford service manuals, but all it refers to is adjusting the striker. Perhaps I need to take it apart, clean and grease it?

Second is a dipstick for my C4 transmission. Mine currently looks like a spiral staircase. All the Mavericks in the junkyards near me are all straight-sixes and automatics, would the dipstick be the same length?

    Thanks for any help.

From what I've seen, the dipsticks are the same between the v8s and the 6's.

As for the door hinges, I recall O'Reilly selling a "door hinge bushing kit" that is supposed to combat sagging hinges. Worth a look. Just drill out the original hinge holes, install the bushings, adjust the striker plate, and they close good as new.

Why not just grab some good hinges off one of the mav's in junkyard?
Just make sure that the dipstick is from a C-4 with the same diameter flexplate. I tried to use original tube with '67 fairlane small bellhousing and couldn't get bolt in on top where it meets bellhousing.
