I bought a pair of standard black interior door panels for my later model doors that are going on my 69.5 and they don't come with the small round Maverick emblems. I have a set that came on some really nasty deluxe panels and was wondering if anyone has had success transplanting these onto other panels that never came with them?
I did exactly that. What I did was used JB Weld and epoxied a nut on the back side of the emblem. Then take a flat head screw, and cut it down to proper size so it pulls the emblem tight but doesn't go into the emblem. I used a fender washer on the back side to spread the load.
I went out in the garage today to remove the emblems from the old panels. When you flip the panels over you find that there are 2 emblem posts sticking through the rear of the panel and an alignment stud. It looks like once they stick through, they had solder melted on them to retain them to the panel. I just ground off the solder and they popped right off. To attach them to the new panels the same way, I could punch 3 holes and work with hot solder, if solder was what was really used. I kind of like the epoxy stud method. Keeps the flame away from almost impossible to find panels. Pictures are a little fuzzy but it is Sunday
