Im making my own door panels.Does anyone know if there is a tool that you can use to punch those goofy holes into the door panel packer board. The last time I made some I used a jigsaw was hoping there was something different. Thanks

I have used different size pipe...i take my grinder and taper one end to as sharp as i can get it. lay the backer board on a piece of wood and punch it out by stricking the pipe with a hammer...:yup:
punch these holes before you cover the board. then split the cover and push it through the hole...

I might use a carpenters chisel..
    Edit: And a hammer.

This [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Heavy-Duty-12-Piece-Hollow-Leather-Plastic/dp/B000KE17JO"]set of gasket punches[/ame] will do the trick.

These are great to punch holes in panels BUT not in masonite. It is to hard to punch with a die especially the panel clip holes because they are to close to the edge and usually you will break the board by the time you get through it. In the shop, for budget panels I use the sheething board that is used for closing in new structures. It is 1/8th inch thick and made out of cardboard but it works great because it has a vapor barrier of aluminum foil on one side and it is wax impigmented to resist moisture. It comes in 4x9 foot sheets and you can get it at most building supply places. If you use this, put the aluminum side against the door. As for lasting, I have jobs out there that I did over 20 years ago that still look good, (No warpage) (y)

Never even thought of using that. Do you use the spray adhesive to hold the vinyl down ?

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
You can also use empty bullet shells as gasket punches, just be sure they have been fired first before hitting it with a hammer :D

Yes I use a commercial grade adhesive sprayed from a gun. There are a lot of decent spray can adhesives but the best can one I have seen is 3M that would be sold retail over the counter.
