The correct sill plates in my 73 2d Maverick are missing. Can these be bought anywhere or can they be interchanged with ones from like a mustang. Mine has sill plates in it that says "Ford", (blue oval), but does not have the lip to cover the channel for the wires or to cover the carpet edge.
    Any suggestions?

After looking at the interior of members Mavs, I see the carpet rolls over the edge and under the sill plates, so I'm good. I have the correct sill plates. The carpet has been removed from my Mav so I didn't realize.

Yes, the carpet needs to be in there. For reference, the 71-73 Mustang sill plates fit fine and they are cheap enough from any Mustang place. The screw holes in the rocker sill may need to be redrilled with the repop plates. This works fine for 71-77.

1970 sill plates are a completely different style and they can be bought from Autokrafters.

But....do they really have them? I don't know if they do, as I know they have had stuff in their catalog before that they never actually had.

I bought some last year and they had them - super high quality just like original equipment - with a Ford authorization code.

The 71-73 Mustangs ones I bought, were an exact fit, I didn't have to drill any holes.

It is nice to know they really exist.

I know this is an old thread but DaveB where did you get the 71-73 sill plates? Also, did they have a lip that "catches" the seat belt trim and kick panel trim? On a 74 maverick.

I bought one set at National Parts Depot, and they have the lip.

daveB, what year maverick did you install them on? They were the same width AND length. I purchased others that are supposed to fit mavericks but they are not as wide and don't have the exagerated lip to catch the trim pieces. In fact, the punch/holes for the screws are well below the lip forcing the screw location to make contact with the car body long before the lip can catch the trim pieces.

after additional searching, the 71-73 mustang will fit 71-73 maverick and requires two holes to be drilled for the 74-77 maverick.
