I am replacing my belt line & door run weather strip. Got the glass out after 2hrs of trying to remove the plastic pins out. I didn't want to take any chance on breakin the window. I was able to remove one pin & had to cut the rear one out. My mistake was cutting abt 1/4" from the front of the belt line strip, now have a 1/4 in gap at the front of the belt line & glass run. If I had not cut it, it wud probably fit perfect, " a $100.00 mistake". I ordered a new set of belt line strips. I am referring to the outside strip. I have another outside strip but it don't seem to lineup w/ the clip holes like the one I cut. Anyway, I installed the glass run strip B4 the belt line. Maybe I should do the beltlines and then the glass runs? Anyone have any suggestions for a 1st. timer on this kind of stuff? I've had this stuff in a box for 3yrs, it's (past) time to do something with it.
I did. I did the pass door today; decided to use the outside strip I had cut a tad short. I trial fitted the other piece and I wud have had a small gap w/it also. I may be able to insert some kind of automotive silicone or I have some strips of black seam sealer I got frm Eastwood last week. I wud like to put something in those cracks. Hopefully, I will have a much faster deal on the driver side. On a roll, so want to do it this week.
