Looking to install my weatherstrip for the doors and the door frame. Never done it before and was wonering whether there someone has done it and has any tips for me. The reason I'm changing it is because it has flattened out pretty good and so on the freeway wind noise comes in. And the vinyl part that sits inside the car also has come loose in the 90 degree corner so water gets into the car.
gonna use this one from 3M last time I used the yellow one and it made a big mess because it just shows up easily but it really did a great job on the trunk.
You'll find that the rear, top corners will bunch up, the reproduction stuff isn't as good as the factory. I just left mine out of the corners a bit, more of a gradual bend.
Dave, I like to see a pic if the Doctor wants to see them or not. I'm a few months from actually re-weatherstripping (is that a word?) Still waiting for a few more parts that has been on back order since early March.
Weatherstripping I wud also like to see them. I plan on doing mine in a few months also for the first time.
The door strips fit pretty good but a couple of the push pins didnt line up with the body holes at the A pillar. (spacing was off) You may have to move a couple of the push pins in the rubber to get the fit right. Also didnt glue the last few inches at the a pillar. It needs to pivot a bit. Had to shorten the strip on the lower door about an inch. We cut it in the middle under the door. Insert a piece of tube into the cut ends to hold them together.
On the A pillar, which few inches did you leave unglued? Was it the part close to the crest? thanks for the info, it helps.
hey im planning a 're-weatherstripping' myself fairly soon. i dont want to buy the custom ford maverick weather stripping ive seen, price is a too steep for me. whats a good universal weatherstrip that can be used? also, a little off topic but i searched around the forum and didn't get a real answer. do i need to remove the dash when i have a glass shop replace the front windshield gasket?
good to know , and craig, whats wrong with running my own weatherstripping and cutting to fit? does anyone sell weather stripping for all the doors on a 4 door maverick?
Where the end is on the A pillar a push pin holds it in place. The bulky section above the push pin that has the metal insert shouldnt be glued according to my body man.
