    Hey guys,
Been searching the forum like crazy on this one but just wanted to double check the stuff for a 250 to 302 swap. I read the tech article http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=4581 too, I'm just checking with you all again.

    74 302 into a 71 250 Mav.

Have the engine and hoist :p

V8 throttle cable, belly bar, crossmember and frame stands are on the way from a forum member (y)

Motor mounts are said to be at NAPA new

    Going with an electric fan

Can reuse the 250 radiator and bellhousing.

Seen some posts about possibly reusing my flexplate/flywheel.. still researching this one.

Also, what is this "V8 Kickdown linkage" I hear speak of, and where would I get one?

Matte Black paint for the engine bay (like it wouldn't run without it.. :p )

    What am I forgetting? :scratchchin:

Gonna try and get this sucker in there next week and be able to drive again! :thumbs2:

Kickdown linkage is what downshifts the tranny into a lower gear when boot the gas pedal....Wiring for alternator and coil more than likely is gonna have to be lengthened or shortened....Fuel line also.....

Does your new motor have the alternator brackets? You can use your old Alternator but need the brackets to bolt it to the engine. And a starter maybe? Not sure if the 250 and the 302 share the same starter.

Just saw your pictures, looks like you got an alt. and brackets. What about crank and water pump pulleys?

Yup, has an alt. and brackets. Have to order pulleys for it. Trying to decide on whether to spend the bucks on performance ones or not yet. I do need a starter, but I wasn't gonna bother you guys with that cuz I can cross-reference part numbers.

Thanks for the input so far!! That fuel line thing sounds like it could be a pain... definitely going manual fuel pump to start off with too!

Kickdown linkage sounds like something I can get used without too much worry :bouncy:

You can't usethe flywheel or flexplate from any six on a V8 - the balance is different.

Pulleys can be a real nightmare depending on what water pump, alt. and power steering pump are used. It is best to get the whole package off of a engine all together.

Paul - stinks about the flywheel/flexplate. Worth buying new or would used work? I guess if we're talking balance we're back to needing to know what my cam is... or is it the crank :hmmm:? bah lol

JS- I'll have to check what alt. is on there. Might kill my electric fan hopes. I have headers and are just gonna do pipes back to downturned mufflers off them (one of those "best laid plans" things I'm guessing lol)

Clint - There is no power steering, but pretty sure the alt and waterpump are not matched and are most definitely aftermarket, so I think I'm gonna have to get these individually for the parts. Does this make sense or u think the package would still work?

Thanks guys! U're bringing up some good stuff here! Alot to think about.

if your only accessory is the alt then a pully kit should work. you just need to match the crank to the waterpump. then you can shim the alt to match.
