Just got back from my Son's wedding in Portland, OR and saw an old friend who had two of his four hot rods burned to the ground while in his garage. He had them insured, and he will get a fair price from the insurance company.........................got me thinking about my Maverick, so I just had it appraised and need to be contacting an insurance company that will insure the car in my garage, and on the trailer when being tow'd along with theft if I park it during an event.

Anyone know of any good companies..................or who insures your drag car???????????????????

    Would appreciate feedback.

    Thanks
    John

I don't think any companies will insure it while it is being RACED. Let us know if you find a company that does.

    Greg,

There are no insurance companies that insure it while racing (meaning, after the christmas tree turns green until you cross the finish line) but after talking with Gulfway Insurance in FL, they will insure the car if I have an enclosed trailer..........................I'm not rich enough for that and only have an open trailer...............but their insurance covers the car while in your garage (all other insurance companies do not cover a race car in your garage nor do they insure any pieces/parts/etc from the car and it is not covered under your homeowners insurance policy) or on the trailer, at the pits during a racing event, in the staging lanes, and on the return road.
I am going to contact Bill@dragracersinsurance.com and find out more information.

Anyone else have race car insurance????????????

I have my car insured by Grundy. It's a street car that I occasionally race. As stated, I'm screwed if I tear it up on the track but covered any where else. Costs me $170 a year for full coverage ($20,000) with zero deductible. Can you classify yours as a street car?

I really can't call it a street car since it has been a full on race car since the late 70's. No windshield wipers, windows don't roll down, no turn signals, no exhaust except headers, spool, cage.................just drag strip only.
I tried Grundy and Hagerty and when I said race car..................they said thanks but no thanks.
I am still looking into this dragracersinsurance.com and it will cost me $45 a month and will cover the car for $30k plus parts and the trailer and tools I carry with me. It covers the car in my locked garage (my garage has a fire sprinkler system as does our house and alarm system) and even covers the car if I have it torn apart for rebuilding, or on the trailer being tow'd, at the race track........in the pits...........on the way to the staging lanes............in the staging lanes.................Not From The Christmas Tree to the end of the strip................but does cover the car on the return road and on it's way to the staging lane or back to the pits.
    So...............I will keep looking..........................

Don is correct...here is a post from these guys as well on the Yellowbullet...

OK guys and gals this needs to be a sticky so nobody can say they didn't know you can buy insurance for your race car. I'm going to lay everything out on the table to try and help everyone understand how this works.

    1) Bisa insurance and I are the same company when it comes to insuring race cars. Bill Flake, Mike Flake and I are in business to write race car insurance for racers and Bill and I felt it made great business sense to bring me into the picture being that I'm a heads up racer and well known in our world of drag racing plus I write insurance for a living which is a win win when it comes to selling the policies and understanding the policy inside and out.

    2) I consider myself extremley easy to get in touch with from my office phone 614-861-3100 to my cell 614-989-4168 or email raceins@coiservices.com and of course by PM but that fills up real quick.

    3) If you have our insurance your car is covered while racing down the race track, in the pits, while being transported to and from the race track and while being stored against COLLISION, FIRE, THEFT AND PLAIN STUPIDITY. Our policy comes with a 2500 deductible and we cover up to 100K in value. 1 cylinder head costs more than a 100K policy so price should not be the deciding factor. If your willing to have 25 to 100K in your car can you afford not to have it insured? I know there is no in hell I could rebuild mine it I totaled it.

    4) We also cover the vehicle in the other lane for 50K in the event you hit it or if you cause damage to another vehicle at the races.

    5) We want nothing to do with vehicles on the street..

    6) We can cover your trailer and everything inside it from tools to spare parts.

    7) We'll pay money for winner and r/u @ NHRA, NMCA, ORSCA, ADRL , NMRA, True Street Racing, Norwalk, Milan, ORTC if you win on Sunday the check is in the mail on Monday. Just email me with what race you won or runner up at and the check is in the mail.

[IMG] This is a 12 month policy but if you don't race for 5 months a year like I do then you can remove the on track insurance but still have the storage and transportation insurance during the off months.

    9) We take all forms of payments from CASH, CHECK, CC and monthly payments with a down payment for anything over 1500 in premium.

    10) We can write the insurance at the track and bind it but we would preferre to write it during the week to where we can get all the information at one time.

I hope I have covered everything and if you have any other questions please feel free to contact me. Lets not have another person on here have a car wrecked, stolen or fire damage without this insurance on their vehicle.
