any of you guys run aftermarket driveshafts? alum? carbon? just wondering... any you notice anything differant by switching from stock one?
I went to a local place, Behlings Circle Track Equipment, in Butler WI. That probably won't help you at all though. They have a place that custom makes aluminum ones, I gave them my slip yolk and the measurements for my shaft(drive shaft length and u-joint size). I'd imagine any kind of a place like that could help you. I couldn't tell you any difference from a stock one, never had that experience. Sorry if not much help..
I have the same shaft in my car. IT does fit but is on the short side by about an inch. So far no problems though. It is just the regular fox body mustang 79-93. I paid 150.00 but they recently went up to 250.00. Jegs or summit racing.
Here ya go Derrick...get one custom made at a good price....I'm gonna have him make one for me. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7968625030&category=33738&sspagename=WDVW
hum good suggetsions... i was reading some where about rotaing mass and how a lighter driveshaft can impove rearwheel horsepower. but i guess its not enough to really notice huh? anways good to have that info you guys posted, thanks! i will keep it in mind.
I noticed a difference in mine by feel. With less rotating mass, it really smoothed the car out.....well as smooth as it can be.
I ordered mine from Inland Empire but will probably go carbon fiber in the future......If I had it to do all over again I would have went straight to carbon....
I had mine custom made by the DriveLine Shop. 3" diameter w/T5 slip yoke, 1330 u-joints, all balanced as an assembly. $200 including shipping.
I had a local dude do me an aluminum one. I didnt realize I had bent my old one,, real smooth now and I do notice a difference with the rotating mass and less weight. Not alot, but I do notice. Dan
My aluminum one is guaranteed to about 1000 hp. and was $350. The carbon fiber one I want from Mark Williams is $750
