my '74 Comet/Mav with 250/3 Spd OTT Driveshaft doesn't have the balancer weight on the tranny output yoke like the '76 Comet GT with a 200/C4.

Why is the balancer used on the output yoke with the C4 ? - to help balance tranny vibes or Driveshaft ?.
    .
I want to use the C4 yoke/w-balancer on the '74 which now has a T5.
    ,
74's current DS is questionable and the two lengths are same but' balancer' just makes me curious ...

I don't think they are actually balancers but more of a vibration damper.

Most of Fords '60s models used a weight bolted to tail shaft of transmission as dampers. One on my '69 Fairlane.
