driving lights

Do the "driving" lights or turn signals (depending on year) come completely off the grill on 71 and later grills?, or is there a spot molded onto the grill for them? I was thinking that a perfectly smooth egg crate style grill would look great.

 

There is a hole in the grill for the lights.

 

You can get an early style grille without the turn signals ('72 and earlier non-grabber) to accomplish the look you're after.

 

But then you have the medallion in the center.

 

I have an early grill but no center medallion

 

You can hybridize a medallion grille with a sportlamp/turn signal grille. Cut the center out of a medallion grille, glue in the center of a sportlamp grille. Then you have a plain, clean one. That's what I was gonna do before I decided on the billet grille I have now.
