I thought it was funny, I'm doing 60mph in 4th @ 2200 rpm put it in 5th dropped to 1200 rpm... I think I have room for better gears...lol...

You have the potential for a huge performance boost with a gear change. It will transform your car!

yeah, I am planning on running 3.50 gears in mine. In my 55 I have 3.89's and that is too low for me, I need to shift before I get thru the intersection.

Running too low rpm's could hurt gas mileage because the carburetor will be running on the idle circuit which runs richer than the main circuit.

    If it's the 3.35 1st gear T-5 I'd go with a 3.25, a 3.50 is good with the 2.95 version...

I am going with the 3.73 but I have an 8.8 been flirting with the idea of 4.11 since I will be running 18s

Running 3.89s with mine, seems about perfect.

Im running 3.55's with a T-5 on mine and I noticed that my MPG slightly boosted after changing to 3.55's from 2.79s. This is what was probably happening to me.

I will decide between 3.25 and 3.55 gears... I think one of these will wake up the car, I want a quick driver that still has good highway maners... My t5 has a 2.95 first gear...
