The oval shaped spring goes on the parking brake equalizer bar, or whatever you call it.

I am in my driveway(dirt) at night using a scissor jack so I can't look at the other wheel. The diagram matches what I did exactly. I figured it out but the cable is a little slack. The shoes dont appear to be moving very far either. I adjusted the star all the way in so I guess I'll send it back out.

What sort of insane person invented these things? My brakes are still sucky. If I floor them then the car will stop sort of. I will adjust the star out and see if that helps. They are bled on that side.

The shoes don't move vry far. Do you have the pri and secondary in the correct orentation? Adjust the shoes so it slightly drags the drum and that shud be abt where they're suppose to be. Make sure no air in lines and u shud be gud to go. I adjust the starwheel (w\drum off) so the drum will barely fit over the shoe and then adjust the starwheel frm there; It shud'nt need much adjustment frm that point. That works for me..l

It's the rear wheel it doesn't spin freely like I like for them to. This is most frustrating. I adjusted the star wheel to match the passenger side and it's still lame. I guess I have to get a ride to work and try again tomorrow. I've already taken a shower and drank a beer.

Cragars look good but they are a pain to take on and off.

If you blew out a wheel cylinder....you have air in the system. You need to bleed the brakes.

I think the cable ur talkin abt is the self-adjuster cable. The cable shud'nt be slack - If it is, you have something installed incorrectly. You may have to take the other wheel off to see where u went wrong. Take ur time - get it right - not something u want to screw-up.

Screw this. I backed the car up and braked a few times to adjust them and the cable is right. Everything is right. Bled them all for over an hour today to no avail. I am taking it to a mechanic tomorrow. I cant afford to miss work by having no ride. I had to call Baby Mama #2 to bring me to work this morning. Baby Mama #3 is not pleased but we gotta do what we gotta do. Same girl getting me tomorrow too...it's going to be a LONG day.
