I am not sure if this is the right place to ask but on the door post sticker it has a place for a DSO code, which i know is for where it is to be shipped for local delivery to its sales lot or something of that sort. my question is this:

what does the rest of it mean?

in my case on one of my cars it has "571317"
the 57 being for Houston i assume, but what is the 1317 for and its meaning?

does anybody have a "special equipment code" list?
    not very importaint, just curious...
    thanks.

    [EDIT]

might have something to do with the color? as the color field above it is blank.
not sure if anybody remembers the "rocky mountain life insurance company's purple cougars or not but that looks to be what WAS the original color of this beast... like a pastel barney purple! YUCK!

Your 6-digit DSO means that your car was special order car. Since the paint code was deleted on the sticker, that means that your special order car was due to the color of the car. Yes...there were factory purple Mavericks produced. They ALL have a 6-digit DSO code. The thing is, none of us know what the purple color paint was for. It had to be some type of "special package" that dealers had available. A Marti report might help get us all an answer.

I met a guy at Wilburs get together a few weeks ago who has a purple Maverick. It was a special order car and painted purple from the factory. He said they would not do one car a custom color, they would do 5. I'm not sure of the year, it might be a 71. He has known the car it entire life and now owns it. Wouldn't that be cool if this is another car from that batch.

6-digit DSO just means special order car. It could be a special order due to paint, interior, transmission, etc. If you are missing a paint code on the data sticker, then it is a special order paint car.

Are you missing the paint code on your data sticker?

Then you car was a special order car due to the paint.

Have you ever got a Marti Report on that car?

Not yet...Odd thing is the original color on the car was fords 6C medium yellow gold.
Really dont want to get the Marti till I'm done building it. Dont want to have to shift gears 2 thirds of the way through the build. Engine mods / 5 speed and subframe connectors are the only real mods its going to have soo... Not to hard to revert to stock if its some super special one off car.

The 571317 means it was the 1317th special order from DSO 57, in this case with the blank paint code, it's fairly obvious the special order was for paint(as is most special order in the '60s/'70s time period)... At one time it was possible to order any std color from another car/truck line or even non std if it was in inventory...

Back when I was keeping the 428 Fairlane registry there were a couple special order '69 Torino GT from the Charlotte NC district(22)with Petty Blue Paint, turns out the paint was Pepsi Cola blue used on delivery trucks of the period...

What does it say in your DSO box on your data sticker?

On the sticker on the door jamb, under DSO it has "17".
I was wondering if the O in DSO stood for origin.
