Was talking to the local shop who did my machine work and he mentioned something that sounded interesting. He turned me on to a local speed /machine shop that has a chassis dyno. Now, they will do it 2 ways. 1) straightline runs with your own tuning etc with graphs at the end. 3 runs =$125

    2) Drop off your car for a couple of days and they will tune it on the dyno to its max potential. Average is 6-9 pulls on the dyno and the cost is $475 + whatever parts you leave with. They have a factoy trained BG fuel guy there (I have a Demon), a factory trained ignition guy and he said they sometimes will get an edelbrock person there if their components are used (my heads) Sounds like an interesting way to get the bugs worked out of a new motor without ticking off my neighbors anymore than I already have.. Thoughts? Anyone done anything like this? (I like #2 above) Scott

Price seem fair? He said typical parts is less than $125.

There is a local shop here that does 3 runs for $25 ... you sure that price is right? They are even setup to do 4-wheel drive cars like Suburu STI's ....

I have a quote of $500 for 4-6 dyno pulls (two 'all motor', two 'nitrous) and a chip with an A/B switch (motor/nitrous).

I dunno about the "Plust parts" - I'd be skeptical at least. A blower can set you back a few bucks. :D

The 125 is actualy for an hour. He stated that it averages about 3 pulls with tuning time. Makes sense, with no tuning you could get 8 or more. Seems in line with what Rick said above. I may do it..

Brothers in corona charges $60 for two pulls only self tuning, timing, and jets.

I would venture a guess there are far more dynos in the LA area. here is little competition up here.

Most auto shows that I have attended charge around $75 for 3 pulls. They will allow you a little time inbetween to tune, but not much. The first sounds a little expensive but if it was the only game in town, I'd go for it.

At $8.33 per pull, I just might trailer my car over to GA to tune it! :drink:

'cepin' for that cost-of-gas thing. :(

Just double checked ... It is $50 for 3 runs ... or $125 for 1 hour rental for tuning ...

I think $475 for dyno tuning plus parts changes-jets and rods, pump cams, would be well worth it. I'd love to hang around for $475. That would be the most fun, seeing and hearing it.

Seth, come on out. I will only charge you $100 to watch the dyno.. I agree, it seems like a pretty good deal. Except the part of leaving my car for 3 days for them to flog! I asked if they fix anything they break, i.e. rods! He laughed.. (we will see how close your desk top dyno was for me)

Guessing 240 for my setup? Correction: never mind, re-read your post.
