Not a very good head they have a heart shaped combustion chamber that doesn't alow them to flow very well.Thats why they are a 1986 only head. The e7 aren't great but they do work better

    They are E6SE heads, correct?

You can't put bigger valves in....chamber shrouding is already a problem with the 1.78/1.45. 1.84's will almost touch the chamber wall and/or the dip in the heart. They were designed (my guess anyway) for a faster burn...which is probably why a friend's Mustang always had pinging problems with more than 12 deg. initial and about 34 total. They'd work if that's all you have, but if you can hold off a while and save your pennies, I'd forget about even E7's and go right for the aftermarket stuff.

I have read on several sites that 86 heads are junk. That's why they went to the E7TE truck heads in '87.

well i have these and a set of D7's also, which from what i can find are NOT a performance head at all due to the size of the chamber (which is huge compared to the E6 head) i think i may just hold off till i round up a set of aluminum's

Run away! Far away! Kind of like dating a model, they LOOK nice on the outside, but they are priced way too high for what you're getting. Looks ain't everything. I guess if you MUST have aluminum heads they'd be OK, but I wouldn't spend any more than $250 on them. A friend of mine bought a set of them and they run NO better than the stock E7's he had on there before. And then the guy in the link, everyone told him that they did not perform "up to par"....but he fell for the cheap price and got screwed pretty good.

For under $1000 you can have the REAL victor Jr heads that will blow the s**t out of the pro-comp junk any day of the week! BTW, you can get the Jr's in any fashion you want. Valves only, complete with springs, retainers, locks, etc already assembled & ready to go, or bare. Bare, I think they're like $700 and change which is how I got mine, then just added Ferrea valves and my favorite springs, retainers, keepers, studs, guideplates and rocker arms. I later put on a set of girdles....which DO work in stabilizing valvetrain. I set the valves once a year and forget 'em. Once in a while I pull the covers to have a look-see at the springs, but the clearance is always spot on.
