I called JBA today about there 64-70 mustang shorty headers. They told me something I have never heard before. They said that the 302 in our cars sit a little more toward the firewall than the mustangs. Some therefor they shorty headers that fit mustangs will most likely be touching the firewall in the mavericks & comets. Have anyone heard of this. I really need shorty headers. My car is lowered 2 1/2 inches in the front. I don't think long tubes will work. NEED HELP!!! Thanks:huh:

I don't know about the shorty headers, but I have my 72 lowered 2" all around and I have Long Tube Hookers on it and I have know problems. Although I am very carefull when going over railroad tracks and things like that.

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
i've seen someone with shortys on a maverick so someones got a set out there that will work!

...and as for worrying about long tubes hitting.. i think there are very few people as low as john fords maverick or mine we both have long tubes.. it never been a real problem for me.. then again i drive lowered imports that you can't even get a low profile jack under the car... thats slow... i mean low.. :p

Okay so for my comet I have looked up hookers & they have to Super Comp. that have a 3 inch collector & weights 20 lbs. or regular Comp. with a 2.5 inch but weights twice as much. Part munbers are 6110 or 6901. I still want to lower the car about another inch.

Have anyone used Block Hugger Headers? Part # 6001,6000, or 6003. I looked them up on Hooker web. Or do I need to stay with 6901 or 6110 because we know they work. I really think those mustang headers will work but I don't want to spend $500 on headers that I can't do anything with if they don't work.

Supercomps are lighter because they use very thin metal.
They don't last as long with regular street use.
They also damage easier if you do bottom out.
Sounds like you would want the thicker headers on a lowered car...

So in other words, put them on slam the car for extreme stance & drive the thang. Ha Ha Ha, sometimes I worry to much.
