My buddy has one in his 79 Bronco, he is very happy with its performance. It click, click, clicks around the corners just like a regular detriot locker.

Nice, sounds like a good option for street/strip cars, and quite a bit cheaper.

    Hey...
I went to that link and my Norton popped up instantly about a worm attempting to gain access.
It was blocked and Norton listed the source as the Summit page.

Now THAT is frightening! Maybe that's why my front rims cost so much more than the back ones! :bouncy:

I use the Powertrax on my vans.
It is good stuff, about the same noise as a DL.
The Lock-Right is made by same company (Richmond) for about 100 bux less, but it is noisier and engages harder.
    Powertrax is very smooth engaging.

    Problem is price.
I haven't priced it for a 8 or 9 inch, but for the Dana 60s I paid enough to have bought an entire DL. They don't make them for a 30 spline Dana 60 though. So this was the only locker I could find.

If they cost 450 bux for an 8 or 9 version, I would just buy the Summit DL for 429 and be done with it.

The nice things about any of these internal locker kits is that you can install them straight into a set-up and running open diff without having to get your gears set back up again.
The Dana version only required removing the cover. The spider gears came out and the locker went in through the 'windows' on each side of the diff.
I doubt it's that easy on a Ford, but if you put it back like you found it, and don't touch the pinion, it should be cake.

Try it and let us know.

Puts alot of pressure on the center pin but they work good.

Yeah I was looking for a cheap limited slip diff. The EZ locker seems to be more targeted toward the off-roading crowd though.. does anybody have any street/strip experience with them. I don't mind if its loud or clunky as long as it works good.

I need something for my Maverick, low HP set up. Don't want to spend $400.00 for 8" stuff....The Mustang has all the good stuff, 9", "N" case, spool, good axles, but it's a race car, I need cheap street car stuff for this. Thought about a mini-spool, but I don't think I want one.

I used a lock right before and it's real noisy and clunky like ratio411 said. The lock right had little tiny pen springs inside used to engauge the locker and they would break all the time a real pita! Not sure how the EZ locker is but i would definately use one before a mini spool.Derek.

What about the 'flat washer' mod...
Check around the net, old school guys used to put flat washers behind the spider gears.
They forced the gears together tighter than stock and yet the washers would slip like clutches when turning.

Works best with hardened washers, but any will wear out eventually just like the flat clutches in a limited slip unit.

Its more money but I got a phone # of a shop thats putting new (minus case and yoke) 8inhes together with any gear ratio you want with brand new 4spider aftermarket trac locs. The complete center chunk just bolt it in for $595. Thats what I`m going to get next, I used to build my own but factory posi`s went through the roof at the swaps and are almost impossible to find at junkyards. Let me know if you want his #

Personally on the Lock-Rite it is JUNK. Helped my dad put one in his 4x4 Toyota 4 cylinder truck. Did not last a year and left him stranded, wound up only turing one axle and if you lost traction there, it would not turn the other side at all. You could literally get stuck in your driveway.
