The only way to get it right is to use a push rod length checker. I have a Manley one that goes on the rocker stud. There are others that act like an adjustable pushrod.

I made mine. Used an old 5/16" stock pushrod and cut it in the middle...then tapped both ends 1/4-20 (no drilling necessary). Cut the head off of a 1/4 bolt and used it as the screw adjuster. I used a locknut on one end and nothing on the other. Worked well.

I have them on my 302 and manage to get away with stock length pushrods. I was kind of surprised, but hey I'll take it!

I have them on my 70 mustang 351Wwith roller rocker, I had stock length hardened pushrods. I have sence changed to a roller cam so I had to change them.

The nice thing about Edelbrock heads is that they are made really close to factory specs, so stock length pushrods should be fine. Also, since they are adjustable, unlike the stock heads, you have margin for error. I would just get stock hardened ones, as RPM heads use guideplates.
