EFI Gas Tank

    Just curious what the best fit / value might be for an efi gas tank.
    I have a fuel cell in the car right now and figured it might be cheaper and easier to just get an efi gas tank with an in tank pump. I also wouldn't be upset about being able to hold more then 8 gallons at one time either lol.

    I found a few used mustang tanks complete and a few new ones bare. They seem to be a tad bit big so wondering what you guys might have used in the past.

    On a stock system the F/P regulator on fuel rail sets pressure, as long as it's operating makes no difference what the pump will produce... Well that's assuming it can produce more than 39 psi under load, which is where the stock system operates... At idle or part throttle cruse(high vac supplied to regulator), it will be around 30-33 psi... If a stock system is operating at more than 10% above the specs it's going to be too rich...

    BTW in good cond the Stang/LSC/Turbo Coupe pump will produce over 100psi if dead ended... Problem comes when they've aged and not able to produce enough pressure for the Turbo Coupes(54psi under boost, delivered by 35Lb injectors), so it falls on it's face... Pump in same condition on a stockish HO 5.0 with 19Lb inj isn't degraded enough to make a noticeable difference...

    i have thought of starting with a new maverick tank for the later models and using an aeromotive phantom 340 pump.

    If you already have a fuel cell just get an inline walbro 255lph pump. They're cheap and reliable, and it'll give you plenty of room for performance upgrades later.

    How much are the walboro 255 pumps?
    Edit * Found them on amazon for around 100 bucks.

    I might just have to do that in place of doing a tank swap etc.

    I would pay the extra $20 (or whatever it is) to get it from summit. There are knock off versions of this pump, so beware.

    The problem is that summit is 30 bucks more expensive and doesn't include any of the hardware. The amazon sellers include the hardware for 108 vs the 130 from summit.
    I'm going to look up the seller on amazon and see if its legit. So far I've had nothing but good experiences with Amazon.

    If you'll be doing this may as well get a SS mustang tank then proceed with the phantom kit.
    And to control pump either aeromotive voltage controller or a flow worx module

    also aeromotive is releasing both a twin 340 pump lot along with a single e85/flex pump..think ot was 450 lph?

    Problem is, Amazon usually finds out after the fact. I'd pay the extra to get a legit pump from a vendor who'll back it up. Do a search on Chicom knock-off pumps, there's a ton of info on failures out there along with some "how to tell the difference" info...
