Hi guys, I also have a 66 impala 4 door sedan, this is my college car. I am soon to start working on that project.
One of the projects will be the electric power steering. I will be documenting this project heavily.

Tonight I purchased the ebay control box with the varistor, and the 07 saturn vue power steering module with the metal box version. I can't wait until it shows up.

I will remove the steering column in the next month and document heavily on how to modify and post it on my impala webpage. its an automatic shift on the column so that should be fun figuring out, might have to make it a standard column, but we will see.

I also am designing a control box to work with a VSS so it will automatically cut out at a set speed. this will allow you to drive and turn normally at slow speeds and cut out when at road speed for better feel and control. ( the standard gm VSS is 8000 counts per mile) i am thinking of an arduino counting the VSS against a table you can set due to tire size / gear calc. should be fun ;)

Any news? I also picked up a Saturn ion colum from the pull apart for $50 only to find out it won't work with the eBay controller due to it having the plastic module on it. Now debating on trying to get the bcm and pcm from that same car and wire in the data lines to see if it will power up the unit. Anyone tried it?
