Long Time, No See! The maverick is really close to being road worthy again...I submitted all the appropraite paperwork tp the state (which takes 21 days to respond...for three separate forms, so 2-month process) and afer that, I can re-register it things were going great until one day I went to start it and nothing happened...battery was dead...not just dead, but DEAD it took a good solid 20 mins on jumper cables to get a 'rowr rowr' kind os start... needless to say, I replaced the batt. The thing is...in no time flat, the battery will be dead, and I mean DEAD I checked the Alternator and the voltmeter shows it's producing the kind of output it's supposed to produce...my next guess is the module that the alternator/ batt are connected to (just in front of the pass. side shock tower) perhaps the battery was shorted, or so dead it shorted and fried something elctrical??? is this module the regulator for the alternator or something else...and is it something I can pick up new at the local parts store, or am I gonna have to pull one from a yard car or find something online just want input from anyone with a similar experience or maybe some suggestions of where else to look for key-off battery drains AP out
Is the replacement battery new? From your discription it sounds like it drains quickly. For that to happen you must have something which is drawing a lot of current. Disconnect (+) positive side and put a voltmeter between the cable and the post. Start pulling fuses until the voltage drops to zero and you'll have located the bad circuit. Check each device on the bad circuit & the electical path for shorts.
