So, I was finally able to try and do some investigating on why I can't use my key to crank the car. The red with blue stripe coming off the switch has keyed power in start but the plug does not have power. It does not appear to have a fusible link between the ignition switch and the plug that goes to the harness. Any ideas on a fix? My first thought was take it to an electrical shop to see if they can replace the wire and pin in the plug.
I did try but I got nothing. I went from the rivet on the side of the switch to the pin in the plug. I couldn't feel in the wire where it may be broken.
Attach one of the meter leads to a safety pin to poke through the wire insulation at different points. Most likely the wire has broken at the terminal and the insulation crimp is what's holding it together.
I did try that in the middle but with the test light, not the ohm meter. I agree, I think it is at the crimp.
