I'm getting ready to put a new Maverick emblem on the trunk and some of the old adhesive is still on the car...how can I remove it without removing paint?
wd40 and a soft microfiber cloth ... if the paint is alreayd messed up... just use paper towel...lol!
How about emblem adhesive remover? I think that there is actually a 3M product made for this type of adhesive removal. Try NAPA, etc.
If you are talking about the factory adhesive ... WD40 should work. If somebody stuck it on with 3M emblem adhesive ... that stuff is much more heavy duty ... even stronger than weatherstrip adhesive.
And the 3M emblem adhesive gets hard, and hard to even sand off, it doesn't remain pliable like the foam type adhesive from the factory. But some kind of wax and grease remover may soften the adhesive up enough to rub it off with a towel, don't expect instant results, may take a number of tries to get it all off, be careful though, it may be too aggressive for original 30 plus year old paint, if thats what you have.
