engine colors

    1963 mercury comet
    can anyone give me advice on what engine colors was on 1963 comet 260 v8 originally. the engine now is paited black with some funky yellow air cleaner and valve covers. i have been told that the valve covers and air cleaner should be a gold color :confused:

    I dont know for sure but I remember my Dads 65 Galaxie with a 289 was black with gold valve covers and air cleaner.

    Early Comets came with yellow valve covers. Don't know about the air cleaner but I think they were yellow also.

    Early Falcons - black block gold air cleaner,v-covers.Never seen early Comet eng./original.Yellow??

    Air cleaner and valve covers should be yellow.Block not sure probly black.Hope this helps.Go to carnut.com for pics of Merc.Comets.(y) Ford used gold,Merc. used yellow.
