I Am Trying To Paint The Engine Compartment Of My 1970 200 Six Cylinder Maverick Black. The Fan Is Blue. As A Matter Of Fact, Everything Is Blue On The Engine. I Think Someone Went Wild With A Can Of Spray Paint. Does Anyone Know What Color The Following Items Are Supposed To Be?

Fan, Fan Spacer, Oil Dipstick, Oil Cap, Fan Pulleys, Shock Tower Braces, Coil Bracket, Hood Prop, And Hood Latch (part On The Hood).

All Of These Items Have Been Painted Blue. The Color Of The Car Is White. Any Info Would Be Helpful.

    Thanks, Stuart

Fan should be black, Fan spacer should just be bare aluminum, Oil Dipstick should be the same color as the engine (blue), Oil Cap should be black, Fan Pulleys should be black, Shock Tower Braces should be black, Coil Bracket and coil should be black, hood prop should be black. I don't think the hood latches were painted at all from the factory, but I would paint it black.

These colors are just what "I" have saw on cars that appeared to be original.

I thought all Mav engine bays were body color?

If you are worried about being correct with that too...

99.999% of 1970's had black engine compartments (firewalls, fender aprons) ... Everyone now and then you see a 71/72 with a black engine compartment as well ... but they are pretty rare. 1971 and up were all pretty much body color ...

    Hmmmm...
I like 'em better black myself.

If there were a few in 72, then maybe I can get away with it in my Sprint bay.

My 72 Dearborn produced car has black - they must have had a lot of leftover paint from the Model T days .......... :p

Mustangs had black bays for many years, 72 included.
If Stangs were built on the same line or in that plant, it may have made a difference.

In my '69.5, the fender aprons and radiator support are black, and the firewall is body color. All the rest of my Mavericks have body color engine bays.
