I haven't seen any links or discussion about a good place to purchase various dress-up parts & accessories for the Maverick.

Has anyone created a master list of dress-up parts and vendors? (air housing, air hoses & connectors, fluid hoses, spark plug wires..etc)

dress up parts are a dime a dozen when it comes to small block ford stuff. (y)

i mean you can find stuff at a really cheap price at your local auto parts stores like kragen, auto zone, pep boys etc. things like chrome valve covers, breathers, wire separators, alt pulley and fans, loom, air cleaners and on and on and on. and the stuff ain't all that bad. they also have cheesy there stuff too... stay way from the chrome lady mud flaps :D ;)

you can also try summit racing they have endless amounts of stuff! from expensive to cheap. from good quality to bad. just depends on how much you want to spend! also mustang parts houses carry tons of engine dress up parts!

if they are directly for maverick parts like shock tower supports, hood latches, hood hinges and what not.. well your kinda screwed there. no one make after market stuff for those items. what you can do is get the stuff chromed or polished.. but chroming ain't cheap like it use to be. expect to pay! a cheaper way would be to power coat them or use some do it your self stuff that someone told me about on the boards here.. but getting old i can't remember what it was called.. duh! :slap:

also remember you can polish anything that is aluminum! it's also way cheaper to get something polished then chome! personally i think polished aluminum looks the best! but hell... it the hardest finish your ever try to take care of! play you pay!

and don't forget what a bit of sand paper and a rattle can (spray paint) can do! a can of spray paint can do wonders as well for an engine bay / compartment! you can paint the block, heads, repaint an air cleaner etc. just don't get carried away and paint everything ford blue or worse yer chevy orange :D :p

my last bit of two sense would be to color coordinate. some may disagree but i think red spark plug wires with blue wire separators and a blue coil with an orange coil bracket in a green engine bay.. well you get the point. they make things out there to match so take advantage of it! if you think that looks good the you better take some art lessons or worse yet watch queer eye for the straight guy and learn something! j/k! ;) :D

all in all details are endless.. as you can see in the pics i went a bit over board on my engine bay. i wouldn't recommend something like this on a everyday car! But some hard work can really help your car stand out from the rest! but also remember sometimes less is more!

good luck! hope to see your progress soon!

Thanks for the help guys. My car is 99.99% all original so I don't plan on redoing the entire engine. There just happens to be a few parts that are worn and I am toying with the option of dressing them up. I want the engine to still look original, but at the same time throw some color in there.

Here are a few progress shots as I am working my way from the passenger side to the driver's side.
