Engine swap on a 73 Ford Maverick

    Help please what is the best easiest engine swap for a 73 Maverick I have a six in there now original f 200 I believe with automatic trans. My car is a four door body style. What's the easiest fit for an Engine swap and probably new transmission any suggestions would be appreciated.

    1972 Maverick 2 door.Original V-8 3 spd std shift.Also a 72 one owner Sprint sporting a 351 Windsor
    A ford 302 V-8 engine is the easiest swap to do (If you want to go to a V-8)...Search the site/tech articles and you will find all the info necessary to do it. Good luck and have fun!!!

    The EASIEST swap would be a 200-6.

    Anything else is going to require several additional parts and/or other changes to accommodate the new engine...

    One alternative is so sell the 4 door with the six and buy a 2 door with a V-8. You might come out ahead if you value your time.

    what is your reason for wanting to swap engines?

    :Welcome: from Atlantic Canada! Also be aware that the 250 has more similarities as far as fitment, etc with the 302 than it does with the 200. Sounds like you need to make a list of what you want the car to do, and then put a plan together.

    What's wrong with the 200 in it now? Not running, or you are just looking for V8 power? Good Luck with your project, and keep us posted! Any pics of the car?
