I'm looking at purchasing a 74 Mercury Comet GT with the 302 but I can't figure out what the car is worth. It originally came from texas and the underbody was coated already to help prevent rusting. Any estimates would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There is suppose to be a small rust spot inside the trunk, the window has a crack, seats are a little torn and dash has a small crack. They did a full tune up and rebuilt the carb on it.

i just looked it up on nada guides an they say that low retail is $3780 average retail is $6683 and high retail is $10328. they are always a little high on value but that should give you an idea.

I don't mean to throw stones, but I would have a body shop check that car out. New undercoating????
Black paint on the lower part of the body is not factory. Likely a cover up for quick rust repairs. Shackles...another ? sign.

I wouldn't pay more than 3K for it. But then again, I'm cheap.:)

Thanks for your help guys. I was acutally going to trade my nissan nx2000 that I built for his car and $430. I would also have to drive 3 1/2 hours to him to get it. It didn't seem like an even trade to me so i'm going to renegotiate with him and see if it comes out better for me.
