Hey guys, I've had a little experience painting cars before with compressors and guns and proffessional equipment, but I don't have any of that stuff available anymore. I was just wondering if any of you had every successfully painted your car with spray cans. Don't laugh, but I've painted the bumper of a Nissan 240SX before with spray cans and it came out remarkably close to the rest of the car.

I'm thinking that if I really take my time and do one body panel at a time it should be pretty simple. Sand, prep, prime, wetsand with fine grit, paint, clear.

    spray painting

my car was painted with spray cans as just a temporary job to stop any rusting, the paint is 2yrs. old and fading pretty badly ,but at the price of $30 I can afford to do it again, it's not a show car and the paint does not make it any faster! I also painted a john deere tractor for a guy about 8yrs. ago, to this day you could not tell it was spray paint. Use the best quality paint and do very good surface prep, and it can be done.

Many automotive paint stores can put their paint in an aerosol can for you. That way you get the good paint with the convenience of a spray can. I've done that when I just wanted to paint a hood scoop or other small parts, and they can match the color.
